Stewardship
Stewardship is not a fundraising department. It is the practice of managing everything God has entrusted to us — time, ability, health and money — as people who did not create any of it.
What Stewardship is
The stewardship leader’s role is described as planner and educator, working with the pastors and the board on the church’s mission and running stewardship education through the year. The teaching is the point. A church that only mentions stewardship when the budget is tight has taught its members that stewardship means a shortfall.
The subject is wider than money. Stewardship covers the management of abilities, time, the body, and material possessions — described in theological terms as practical sanctification. Jesus talked about money and possessions constantly, not because the kingdom is about wealth, but because how a person handles what they have reveals what they actually believe.
At Edmonton Central that works out as honest teaching, a transparent budget, and an annual independent audit presented to the Church Board.

Common questions
Where does my tithe go?
Tithe supports pastoral ministry, evangelism and the worldwide work of the church, distributed through the Alberta Conference. Local operating costs come from the Church Family Budget.
How do I give?
Through AdventistGiving Canada, INTERAC e-Transfer, or a pre-authorised monthly transfer via the Alberta Conference. Full detail is on our giving page.
Will I get a tax receipt?
Yes. Edmonton Central is a registered Canadian charity. AdventistGiving issues receipts automatically; the office issues them for other gifts each January.
Is stewardship only about money?
No, and treating it that way is the most common mistake. Time, skill and health are all part of it.
