A visitor decides how they feel about a church long before the sermon. The greeting ministry is not decoration; it is the first and sometimes the only impression this church makes.
What Greeters & Hospitality is
Hospitality is treated in Scripture as a spiritual gift, not a personality trait. The greeting ministry exists because someone walking into an unfamiliar building for the first time is doing something socially difficult, and how they are met in the first minute or two determines a great deal.
The practical guidance is straightforward: clear signage, someone in the car park, a person at the door, and a hand-off so a newcomer is not left standing alone with a bulletin wondering where to sit. None of it is complicated. All of it takes deliberate organisation.
At Edmonton Central our greeters cover the main entrance on 111 Avenue, help people find Sabbath School classes and the children’s areas, and know where the accessible entrance and washroom are without having to go and ask.

Common questions
I have never been to an Adventist church. What happens?
You will be met at the door, handed a bulletin and shown where to go. Nothing will be asked of you. Come as you are.
Where do I park?
Free parking is available in the church lots off 111 Avenue and on the street nearby. Watch for the P signs or ask a greeter.
Is the building accessible?
Yes. There is an accessible entrance and washroom, hearing-loop ready seating, and large-print bulletins from the office.
Can I help as a greeter?
Yes. It is one of the easiest ministries to join and one of the most useful. Contact the office.
