Communication & Media
Three audiences, one job: keep the members informed, keep the Conference in the loop, and make sure the neighbourhood knows this church exists and what it is for.
What Communication & Media is
The communication role is described around three groups of people: church members, the Conference communication department, and the local community. Each needs something different, and a church that only speaks to the first has effectively gone quiet.
Members need to know what is happening — and that includes the people who attend rarely, the shut-ins, and what the division helpfully calls virtual members: people who may never walk through the door but consider themselves part of this congregation because they watch every week. Since we livestream, we have those members, and they count.
The community needs to know we are here. That is the work of the website, the Google listing, social media and the local press, and it is the difference between a church that is present in its neighbourhood and one that merely occupies a building in it.
